House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he will not cooperate with the Jan. 6 House committee.
His response came just hours after the panel asked him for information.
The bipartisan house committee wants McCarthy to answer questions about what happened on Jan. 6 and the days before and after.
They are also looking for information on former President Trump’s state of mind around the attack on the Capitol.
The committee’s vice-chairwoman Liz Cheney says they are not ruling out the possibility of a subpoena for McCarthy.
In recent days, the committee has also asked to speak with House representatives Scott Perry and Jim Jordan.
Both Republicans said they will refuse to cooperate.
