Vikings request permission to interview Eagles VP Catherine Raîche for GM job

The Minnesota Vikings' search for a new general manager has them considering a woman for the job.

Minnesota requested permission to interview Philadelphia Eagles VP of football operations Catherine Raîche for its vacant GM job, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. The NFL Network first reported it Thursday.

Raîche, in her third season with the Eagles, was promoted to her current role in May 2021 after being a football operations/player personnel coordinator. The Montreal native had been an assistant GM with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes (2017), where she also served as coordinator of football administration (2015-17). She also worked as director of football administration for the Toronto Argonauts (2018-19).

This is believed to be the first GM interview request for a woman in NFL history, according to the NFL Network, which reported that the Vikings also requested to interview Eagles director of player personnel Brandon Brown.

Only one woman has ever served as general manager for an NFL team. In 1983, then-Eagles owner Leonard Toss promoted his daughter Susan Tose Spencer to the role, which she held for three years.

The Vikings are searching for a replacement for longtime GM Rick Spielman, who was fired Monday along with head coach Mike Zimmer.
