Chicago Fire spoilers: What happened in season 10 episode 11?

Chicago Fire has some dangling plot threads as season 10 continues. The biggest thread is the romance between Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney), which has been on alarmingly shaky ground since the former returned.

Fans get more insight into their relationship in the brand new episode “Fog of War”. There’s also crucial information regarding Brett (Kara Killmer) and the visit that she paid to Casey (Jesse Spencer) in between episodes.

What happened on Chicago Fire last night? (January 12th)

The episode opens with an intimate exchange between Kidd and Severide. They cuddle, and Kidd reminds Severide that she absolutely does want to get married following his question in the last episode.

Kidd adds that she screwed up by not communicating with Severide more while she was gone, and assures him that she loves him. Back at Firehouse 51, Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) chat with Brett about her offscreen trip to see Casey. She said she had a great time seeing Casey, but that it went too quickly.

The squad gets called to a scene where a live wire is down. Pelham (Brett Dalton) is the first one on sight and he decides that they aren’t waiting on further orders to start helping out. Severide works to pry a door open and rescue a trapped civilian but it prompts an explosion that puts the lives of several people in jeopardy.

Mouch (Christian Stolte) is left to tend to a firefighter from the 37 who gets hit in the chest with a live wire and is subsequently injured. The firefighter survives the ordeal, but it turns out that she blames Pelham for rushing into the scene without taking proper precautions. The entire 51 squad support Pelham’s decision, but Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) lets him know that investigators will have to collect statements from everyone in the 51 and the 37 before they make an official call.

Elsewhere, Brett’s half-sister Amelia and Amelia’s father, Scott, visit the firehouse unexpectedly. The latter asks if Amelia can stay with her for a few days, and despite Brett’s apprehension, she doesn’t say no. The focus of the episode shifts, though, as Kidd looks into the disagreement between Pelham and McBride.

The last scene of the episode sees Kidd visit McBride in the hospital and confront her regarding her accusations. She tries to convince McBride that Pelham is new but effective at his job, but McBride won’t hear it, and asserts that she’s said everything she’s going to say on the matter.

The episode ends on a somewhat ominous note, given that Pelham is still establishing himself as a presence in the firehouse. In addition to the grief that his promotion caused for Chief Boden, its now causing problems for the 51 as a whole.

It’ll be particularly interesting to see whether this disagreement brings Pelham and Kidd closer together, given Kidd’s somewhat awkward association with the lieutenant job.
