Tom Holland Was "Jealous" Of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Suit For One Reason

Tom Holland Was "Jealous" Of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Suit For One Reason

It is a much cooler suit, to be fair

Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home contained in this article. I've warned you! Don't say I haven't.

One of the best things about Spider-Man: No Way Home was finally getting to see multiple live-action Spider-Men play off one another.

For the first time ever, Tom Holland's MCU Spidey was joined by the original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, as well as Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man.

This allowed for a ton of fan-pleasing in-jokes that gently poked fun at the various differences between the three Peters. The fact Maguire's Spider-Man shoots organic webbing, for instance. Or that Garfield's most interesting enemy is a Russian guy inside a robot rhino suit.

Of course there was plenty of discussion amongst the three actors behind the scenes, too. In a recent interview with Variety, Garfield revealed that he'd often talk with Maguire and Holland between takes about their unique experiences as Spider-Man. Obviously, conversations like that will eventually turn to the differences between costumes.

It turns out that Holland was actually jealous of Garfield's Spider-Man costume. Not because he thought it was cooler than his or anything (although it definitely is), but because it was far more practical to be in during downtime on set.

"We talked about what worked for each of us," Garfield recalled. "Tom was jealous because I have little zippers in my suit that I can get my hands out of very easily. To work his phone, he had to use his nose because he couldn't access his hands. We would have deeper conversations, too, and talk about our experiences with the character."

The Tick, Tick... BOOM! star went out to say that the first time the three actors arrived on set all in costume was a huge moment for him as a Spider-Man fan.

"I think the first time we were all in the suit together, it was hilarious because it’s like just three ordinary dudes who were just actors just hanging out," he said. "But then also, you just become a fan and say, 'Oh my god we’re all together in the suits and we’re doing the pointing thing!' There was talk about going to the bathroom and, you know, padding around the package."

No wonder people want Andrew Garfield to come back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
