Keeping Up Appearances -same episode on Drama & GOLD at same time!

The same episode of Keeping Up Appearances is currently on Drama (FTA) & GOLD (Subscription/Pay TV)

Do they ever check if exactly the same program is going out at the same time?

    That’s the power of the Bouquets. 😉

    Was only thinking about it when I read the article about the Chelsea Flower Show 2022’s planet-friendly garden designs and it mentioned something “riparian”. Took me back to this classic episode of KUA about the waterside supper with riparian entertainment. 😂

    The same episodes are currently shown each day on both Drama and GOLD in the 5:20pm slot, these channels both belong to UKTV therefore it is obviously their intention to do this.

    I think it's more the case that they just sling their schedules together, probably by sticking a pin on a piece of paper, and inevitably from time to time there'll be a clash. I doubt they even notice.

    I was about to say I appreciate that we can get to see some of these shows on Drama and Yesterday as they are free to air unlike Gold but the lazy scheduling on these channels beggars belief-the Good channel is particularly bad with their endless Fools and Horses on a loop and Summer Wine every weekday when that is also on Drama.It would be great if they could show some shows that we haven't seen for a good while but I guess it's cheaper just to keep churning out the same stuff.As to the programme scheduled at the same time on both channels I reckon it was always going to happen sometime as it doesn't seem that whoever programmes one looks at the other (unless it's a computer these days).

    Well, what would be the point of putting on different episodes at the same time?

    That is exactly what happened with Last of the Summer Wine over Xmas. They went from showing the early ones with Foggy, Compo and Clegg straight into the Xmas specials which were made several years later and had a different cast. Very jarring it was to watch.

    Very true.I think it's fair to ask though why a channel that isn't free to air is putting out the same programme as one that is.

    I guess they're "sort of" in competition though, even if they're all owned by Viacom (?)
