It's something many Portlanders have been waiting a while for.
You can now experience Oregon's wine country just minutes from downtown.
Amaterra opened Wednesday in the West Hills. It's a vineyard, production facility, winery, restaurant and event space all in one.
KATU got to talk with Executive Chef Jami Flatt. He told KATU about his favorite dish on the menu.
"I think the first dish I really created was our meatball dish, and it's inspired by a sense of place. Amaterra is located on Swede Hill, and so I took the idea of being on Swede Hill and was inspired by a Swedish style meatball," he said.
Before construction was complete, grape harvest and production was well underway.
The general manager says Amaterra will focus primarily on pinot noir and chardonnay.
