The Chevy Silverado EV is the latest electric full-size pickup truck from General Motors. It will be Chevrolet’s first-ever electric truck model. The Silverado EV will include many features that are exclusive to the nameplate, thanks to its unique electric powertrain. What is the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV’s PowerBase feature?

General Motors is trademarking “PowerBase”, according to MotorTrend. PowerBase is a new Chevy Silverado EV feature that competes with the Ford F-150 Lightning’s Pro Power Onboard feature.

The feature will allow 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV electric trucks to act as mobile generators similarly to the Ford F-150 Lightning. This feature will enable the pickup to power tools and accessories, increasing its capability as a work truck. This is especially exciting news since the Silverado EV RST trim will have a battery pack capable of producing 400 miles of driving range.

Since Ford F-150 Lightning models with weaker batteries than the Silverado EV RST can power homes for short time periods, the Chevy’s PowerBase feature has the potential to shock the world. MotorTrend claims that the PowerBase system can export a total of 10.2 kilowatts and allows for 10 outlets. Ford’s F-150 Lightning Pro Power Onboard system has a total output of 9.6 kilowatts. The Silverado 1500 may not have been a challenge for the Ford F-150, but the Silverado EV is a clear rival for the F-150 Lightning.

According to GM CEO Mary Barra, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is in a class of its own. After revealing the full-size electric pickup truck, consumers and fans realized that the CEO is perfectly justified in boasting about the Silverado EV’s capabilities.

The catch is that the most capable and noteworthy Chevy Silverado EV, the RST, is much too expensive for the average consumer. The Silverado EV RST starts at over $105,000. The truck is capable of 664 horsepower and 400 miles of driving range. The full-size electric pickup truck has recently made headlines because of the incredible specs of its final trim level.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will compete with models like the Ford F-150 Lightning and 2024 Ram 1500 EV. There aren’t enough details about the electric pickup available to recommend it over other electric trucks. It surely will provide stiff competition to rivals.

Consumers that can afford a truck as expensive as the Silverado EV RST will find that the truck offers best-in-class power and range as far as electric pickups go. Other automakers may have to make adjustments to compete with the electric pickup truck’s final trim.
