GSC Game World have officially announced a delay of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The game will now launch on December 8, 2022.

Just as the most recent rumours suggested, the highly anticipated survival horror Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl has been delayed quite significantly. GSC Game World, the developer of this Xbox exclusive, have officially announced that the game has been pushed from its April release date to December 8, 2022.

The team says Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is the biggest project they've ever worked on and they need more time to meet the expectations of players.

"These additional seven months of development are needed to fulfil our vision and achieve the desired state of the game. Stalker 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC and it requires thorough testing and polishing," they wrote in the announcement. "We are convinced that the development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project."

GSC promise more updates, info and showcases in 2022.

To be completely honest, this was somewhat expected since the team have been pretty quiet and did not show enough of the game in recent months. Stalker 2 was already delayed once from its late 2021 release date to early 2022 but this delay, which is quite significant is certainly an interesting one, given how optimistic the team was with their previous release dates.

We hope that the development is going well, though, as Stalker 2 is one of our most anticipated games of 2022.
