Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Werther’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Werther.”

The company noted that Clementine Margaine will take on the role of Charlotte in all performances of the work starting on Jan. 15, 18, and 20, 2022. Margaine will replace Julie Boulianne, who was originally announced to play Charlotte.

Margaine has performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Metropolitan Opera, Paris Opera, Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Salzburg Festival. Her repertoire includes “La Favorite,” “Carmen””Roberto Devereux,” “Il Templario,” “Don Quichotte” “Le prophète” and “Il Trovatore.”

The mezzo-soprano joins a cast that includes Juan Diego Flórez, Étienne Dupuis, and Slávka Zámečníková. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Andrei Serban.
