After six years in office, Hollingsworth says he is not running for reelection but is still looking for ways to help Hoosiers.

After six years in office, Indiana Congressman Trey Hollingsworth announced he is not running for reelection.Hollingsworth made a statement on Twitter that said: "As I contemplate how I can work for you in new, better ways in the future, I won't run for reelection this year. You deserve a Member of Congress totally and completely focused on the 9th District, and, though I have remained committed to that promise these three terms, now I will fight for you and us in different ways."In an Indy Star op-ed, Hollingsworth wrote that his three terms in office are enough."I took a pledge to limit my own terms to four because of this very idea: to remind me to focus on the people and that serving the public wasn't intended to be a career by our founders," he wrote.Hollingsworth was first elected in 2016 to replace current U.S. Sen. Todd Young, representing the 9th District in Southern Indiana.He finished his op-ed by writing he is still contemplating his next steps and how he can continue to help Hoosiers."I want to be the change I want to see in this world, so, as I contemplate how I can work for you in new and better ways in the future, I won't run for reelection this year. You deserve a Member of Congress totally and completely focused on the 9th District, and, though I have remained committed to that promise these three terms, now I will fight for you and us in different ways," he wrote.Even though Hollingsworth has spoken out against career politicians, he has been rumored as a potential candidate for governor in 2024.

In an Indy Star op-ed, Hollingsworth wrote that his three terms in office are enough.
