Dartmouth Intersection Dos and Don’ts for Those Who Are Confused

You learn something new every day, so I took it upon myself to educate those who may be confused about a certain intersection in Dartmouth.

The other day, I was in the mood for a burger so I decided to head over to Max's in Dartmouth. Now, if you're coming from Westport (heading west to east), then pulling into the parking lot is a piece of cake. However, coming from New Bedford (east to west), it's a whole different story that can be somewhat confusing if you're not from the area.

Therefore, I'll be your substitute driving instructor for a moment.

You'll notice in the photo below that there are two lanes on Summit Ave by the Route 6 intersection that are adjacent to the Max's plaza, opposite where the famous Dartmouth viking statue stood for years. In order to cross over/go straight, you'll need to be in the right lane which is also used for anyone turning right. As for the left lane, that's designated for anyone taking a left-hand turn heading towards New Bedford.

Too many times, I've been in the right lane ready to go straight, just to be cut off by the person on my left who should have gone left instead of going straight. Again, this is just a courtesy, a bit of education for anyone who may not have known.

FYI, the right lane is the same road (Summit Ave) as the one leading to the plaza, if that helps you to remember.
