ICYMI, our girl Miley Cyrus has got a new man, y’all. According to what a source told E! News last January, the OG Disney Channel star is “happily dating” a musician named Maxx Morando. They apparently know each other through mutual friends and have a tight connection since “they are both artistic and creative” and “bond over being musicians,” according to a second source.
Fast-forward to February 2022, and the pair turned it up a notch by escaping the winter cold for a lil baecation in Cabo, where paps caught them kissing poolside in their private villa. Reports at the time said that Maxx even went to support Miley at her New Year’s Eve special on NBC in Miami just a few months prior! But before both of those public spottings, way back in November 2021, the pair was seen on a red carpet together in Los Angeles at the Gucci Love Parade fashion show. Witness:
Tbh, these two had all but confirmed the reported ’ship for the longest time...that is, until Miley opened up about it in her latest British Vogue interview (but more on that later!). However, for the longest time, we had to settle for intel from sources—one of which dished to Entertainment Tonight last March that apparently the two have “been together for a little while and are just enjoying their relationship.” “Miley likes the fact that they are low-key as a couple and is just focused on doing her thing and being around people that make her happy, and Maxx does that.” But it’s been over a year since that 🍵 was spilled, and we’re happy to report that these two still seem to be going strong!

Maxx is in a band
Maxx is the drummer for an L.A.-based rock group called Liily. Before joining this squad, he was a member of the Regrettes from 2015 to 2018, also as the drummer. But don’t go thinking he’s a lil one-trick pony. Maxx is well versed in playing a variety of instruments, including the guitar.
He’s a bit younger than Miley
Maxx was born on November 16, 1998, making him 24 years old. Miley is 30. But despite the six-year age gap, they actually do share being iconic astrological signs since he is a Scorpio and she is famously a Sagittarius (her b-day is on November 23).
He’s into ~fashun~
Maxx is a true artist and seemingly into all things creative. He drew cartoon characters that were part of a legitimate designer collaboration Miley wore during a performance. It was so legit, in fact, that Miley even name-dropped Maxx in an interview with Vogue when discussing her killer festival lewks.
“This look is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two of my favorite emerging artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl,” Miley said about the ensemble in the September 2021 interview. “Shane used existing pieces I’ve collected over time and customized Maxx’s cartoon characters [within] his construction. Their collaboration is the perfect example of sustainability becoming the next fashion phase, and it proves that anything can be reinvented, which resonates with me deeply.”
Needless to say, Maxx was psyched about the shout-out because he posted a screenshot of the article on his Instagram:

He and Miley celebrated her 30th birthday together
Yep, you read that right! And just four days after the singer’s milestone birthday last November, the couple appeared to be all smiles as they closed out the weekend with a low-key lunch together. The Hannah Montana alum even posted a sweet tribute commemorating the celebratory day:
But before we start manifesting their I dos, here’s a bit of intel: In March 2022, a source dished to HollywoodLife that, in regards to tying the knot, Miley doesn’t appear to be in a rush. “She has been there and done that and she thinks that they don’t need to be married to have a lifelong commitment to one another,” they said. However, that *doesn't* mean that Maxx isn’t a v special person in her life. “She has had her fair share of relationship problems and she believes that the reason was that all her past romances were in the spotlight...[She and Maxx] are very serious and committed to each other. She feels they are soul partners. He is like no other partner she’s ever had,” another source confessed in October 2022.
They had a night on the town when Miley dropped her Endless Summer Vacation album
Yep, a little over a year after the two were initially rumored to be dating, Miley and Maxx confirmed that they’re still happily together after making a joint appearance on March 9 at the Versace show in Los Angeles hours before the Hannah Montana alum dropped her newest album, Endless Summer Vacation. And later that night, they celebrated its release together at a Gucci party. Obsessed!

And because she knows how to give the people what they want, she also dished on their origin story. “We got put on a blind date,” she confessed of how she and Maxx met in a May 2023 British Vogue interview. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, The worst that can happen is I leave.” Oh, and apparently during the convo, the singer actually received a call from Maxx and the song “Tyrone” by Erykah Badu began playing, which she called “That ‘boyfriend sexy ringtone.’” I-con-ic!!
The celeb also spoke about the story of how when Endless Summer Vacation was released, she hadn’t even been in Los Angeles and didn’t have her phone with her, recalling, “My boyfriend brings his phone and I don’t bring one. I had no way of knowing what number it would [chart at], and it wasn’t of importance to me because it wouldn’t have changed anything. Someone could say, ‘It would be this number if you did that, or this number if you sell your soul…I’ve been in the Garden of Eden before and I’ve taken the red apple, and it never feels good.” BRB, legit tuning out every single word other than “my boyfriend” until I can fully understand the magnitude of this. 🍵
They shared a moment at the 2024 Grammys
Miley Cyrus had her beau right beside her as she won multiple Grammys (her first time winning) and also shut down the show with her incredible performance. But even with all the excitement, she had enough time to share a cute moment with Maxx as they enjoyed the rest of the show together.
