Few film companies boast the horror chops of A24 – the independent distributor behind 2018’s Hereditary and 2019’s Midsommar – and its next horror pic, X, has just received a brand new trailer showcasing the upcoming chiller in action.
Scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 18, X is the story of a handful of adult filmmakers whose sexually explicit shenanigans go awry when they arrive at a mysterious farmhouse in the middle of Texas.
Go ahead and and feast your eyes on the new footage down below, but beware – it’s pretty damn eerie stuff!
As you can see above, the movie is set in the 1970s and stars famous rapper-singer Kid Cudi, Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow, Scream (2022)’s Jenna Ortega, and Nymphomaniac’s Mia Goth.
Helmed by Ti West, the writer-director behind 2013’s The Sacrament, X appears to be a promising blend of Boogie Nights intermixed with classic slasher fare like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. With its eye-catching cinematography and unique sexploitation themes, X continues A24’s signature arthouse style in, well… style.
From a personal perspective, if X is anywhere near as good as Ari Aster’s Midsommar, then we’ll be in for one helluva treat when the horror flick officially makes its way to theaters on March 18, 2022.
