Some of us may still be sweeping up pine needles, but a new announcement is going to make us wonder why we've got to wait so long for Christmas 2022: Mariah Carey is coming out with a holiday-themed children's book!

As if her chart-topping hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" wasn't enough to get us in the festive spirit, the announcement that she is releasing The Christmas Princess, due out this coming fall (just in time for next year's holiday season), sure will.

This isn't her first foray into children's books. It's not even her first foray into children's Christmas books: in 2015, she penned a book about a girl pining for a pet dog in the aptly titled All I Want For Christmas Is You. But for her upcoming project, the story is semiautobiographical – it even features a young Mariah who "doesn't have much and doesn't want a lot" but still struggles with loneliness.

"It was empowering to transform my childhood turmoil into a modern classic fairytale full of wonder and boundless hope."

"Little Mariah represents my inner child believing in her own vision, she represents all children, especially those who feel like outsiders or 'others', striving to believe in themselves," the Grammy Award-winning artist said in a statement to People. "It was empowering to transform my childhood turmoil into a modern classic fairytale full of wonder and boundless hope."

She said the book, illustrated by Fuuji Takashi, is also about letting little imaginations run wild.

"So many of us have been drowning in 'bleakocity' for the last year and half, why not create an enchanted land to escape to?" Mariah said.

The Christmas Princess ($11) is already available for preorder on Amazon Kindle before it hits bookshelves on Oct. 25.
