Kirby and the Forgotten Land Launches on March 25th

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land which reveals the latest entry in the Kirby series is heading to the Switch on March 25th.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is being developed by HAL Laboratory and was initially revealed during a Nintendo Direct back in September last year with a release window of Spring 2022. The game got a little buzz with the series switch to 3D which looked inspired by Super Mario Odyssey and sees Kirby explore a colourful post-apocalyptic world. It seems Nintendo Switch players will be able to get their hands on the game much sooner, with the new date just a little more than two months away.

The game’s upbeat trailer also features Kirby‘s copy abilities after sucking an enemy in the game. These abilities include familiar ones where Kirby can turn into a mage, the classic tornado, using a hammer to fight as well as reveal new areas and wielding a Link-like sword. New abilities include Kirby using Drill power, which allows players to dig underground and the Ranger power, which lets players take aim at enemies from a distance

It’s also revealed that the game will come with a new co-op mode, player two will join your journey as Bandana Waddle Dee. Players will be able to launch a variety of attacks using Bandana Waddle Dee’s spear. The mode only supports single system local co-op only and not online, we’ll see or not if it will get added later like Super Mario Party.

“Join Kirby in an unforgettable journey on a delightful 3D platforming adventure, explore in 3D stages as you discover a mysterious world. Inhale enemies to gain copy abilities like the new Drill and Ranger. Use these skills to save the kidnapped Waddle Dees from the Beast Pack. You can also bring along a second player to control Bandana Waddle Dee and take on the forgotten world,” the trailer’s description reads.

Kirby will arrive at an unknown land in the new game where “nature and a past civilization have fused in a series of areas packed with platforming challenges”. Kirby and the Forgotten Land will feature the game’s hub of Waddle Dee Town where players can interact with the Waddle Dee that Kirby rescues throughout the game. The Kirby and the Forgotten Land trailer also teases a faceoff between Kirby and Meta-Knight.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is heading its way to the Nintendo Switch on March 25th.
