Laura teased: “Charity is also going to be affected by some heartbreaking news involving Ryan that is going to see some huge emotional scenes play out between mother and son and this is going to have some influence over Charity’s relationship.”
Are they killing off Ryan’s mum, even though the show already barely acknowledged her existence? If so, I’m surprised it took them this long.

I always wondered if Ed popped a little nugget in the show for a possible early release for Robert in the future when they brought up that Luke attacked Lee before Robert got around to whacking him over the head with a shovel. The story petered out at the time but it could always be revisited. Andy was on the run but there's no way Ed would let that get in the way if they wanted a return 😁
I'd love more Sugdens on the show and the 50th anniversary would be the perfect time for this.

Actually speaking of sketchy deaths, maybe Archie Brooks? Has actually had amnesia since the plane crash, finally remembers who he is.
Or Nick/Cathy Bates. I really enjoyed that brief return of Michael Feldmann they had a couple years back, maybe they could come up with a reason for him to show up again.
I really wish Zoe Tate was an option, but understandably I'm sure they don't want to recast.

To be honest I think that Robert returning would be such a positive thing for the show, that I don't really care how implausible the story behind it and a premature release from prison (potentially) is ! Victoria by herself isn't strong enough to upload the Sugden name, so she needs support.
I basically stopped caring about that sort of thing in soap-land, after the explanation of why Phil was suddenly a free man in Eastenders in 2005.
Lots of characters from over the years who've lived in Emmerdale at some point have recorded a little segment for the documentary, including Gloria Weaver, Steve Marchent, Stella Jones, Jan Glover, Andy Sugden, Kathy, Joe Tate, Roy Glover and more still to be confirmed.
