Over 12% of Treasure Mountain Junior High has Covid

PARK CITY, Utah — COVID-19 cases continue to rise within the Park City School District this week.

According to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard, which was last updated on Tuesday, Test to Stay is currently active at Ecker Hill Middle School, Treasure Mountain Junior High, and Park City High School.

108 cases have been confirmed at Treasure Mountain in the last 14 days. The school’s population is 856, giving it a confirmed case percentage of 12.62%.

Park City High has registered 136 cases in the past two weeks, giving it a confirmed case percentage of 9.96%.

Ecker Hill has 48 confirmed cases in the same timeframe, giving it a percentage of 5.75%.

All other schools in the district have a confirmed case percentage above 3%.

According to county data from last week, 52% of Summit County residents ages 5-11 remain unvaccinated. Meanwhile, 85% of Summit County residents that are eligible are fully vaccinated.

During the first half of the school year in 2021, a two-week mask mandate went into effect at any Summit County school that was above a 2% confirmed case percentage. Masks are currently required in schools, due to the public health order that went into effect on Jan. 7. It is currently set to expire on Feb. 21, however Health Director Dr. Phil Bondurant and Summit County Manager Tom Fisher can extend the order.
