‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Nominated For Make-Up Guild Award

If it’s January that means award season is starting up again, with nominations being announced all month from various guilds and associations. And Star Trek: Discovery has picked up its first nomination of the year.

The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild has announced their nominations for the year and the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery has been nominated for Best Special Make-Up Effects for Television. The artists nominated for Discovery are: Glenn Hetrick, Rocky Faulkner, Nicola Bendrey, and Chris Burgoyne. Discovery will be going up against American Horror Stories, Impeachment: American Crime Story, The Witcher, and This is Us.

Make-up has always been one of the strong suits of the franchise with many awards and nominations through the decades. Discovery was nominated for the same Guild award in 2020 and Star Trek: Picard was nominated in 2021. All three previous seasons of Discovery were nominated for Emmys for Prosthetic Makeup, with wins in 2019 and 2021.

Award Season 2022 just starting

The Make-Up &  Hair Styling Guild kicks off what will be a series of nomination announcements throughout January and into February. TrekMovie will keep track of all the announcements and report updates for everything Star Trek related

The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards will be held at a live ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 19.

The fourth season of Discovery will return from hiatus on February 10.

Awesome! In addition to Lower Decks and Disco I would think Prodigy would be in contention for nominations given it’s original release (in between the other two).
