The new mental health response team in Santa Rosa is officially here.
The city of Santa Rosa and it’s partners held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new inRESPONSE Mental Health Support Team which will respond to non-violent mental health crisis calls. Captain John Cregan of the Santa Rosa Police Department says this a game changer.
“We’re going to be able to assist vulnerable members of our community,” said Cregan. “I think we are going to see more people who are calling out for the services they need when they are in crisis. We’re going to see reductions to our local emergency emergency rooms and we are going to see reductions even to our county jail.”
The team includes a licensed mental health clinician, a paramedic, a homeless outreach specialist, and is supported by wrap-around support services providers.
