Poppy Posts New Song, “3.14,” About Her Cat, Pi

0

Crossover, genre-mashing star Poppy has dropped a new song called “3.14,” a reference to her cat, who is named Pi.

The song sees Poppy return to the electronic/dance format of her Am I a Girl? days, except with a harder, almost Nine Inch Nails-like edge. I truly loved Poppy’s 2020 metal foray I Disagree, as well as her ’90s alt rock experimentation on Flux (2021) — and I completely support artistic experimentation for any musician! — but the dancy stuff is the Poppy I first fell in love with and ultimately my favorite. Needless to say, I like this song a lot and hope there’s more like it on the way.

In December, the singer tweeted, “I’ve been holding on to this song I wrote abt Pi for ages. Should I drop?”

You can give it a whirl below. No word on a new album, although Poppy did post a couple of electronic-tinged teasers at the end of December that could hint where she’s headed.
