CorelDRAW is mostly used for vector-based designing such as creating logos, invitation cards, and brochures, but it has some solid photo editing features as well. If you don't own Adobe editing software, CorelDRAW is the next best thing.

Here, we give you a simple guide to remove the background from an image in CorelDRAW. Let's jump right in.

Step 1: Import the Image

The first thing you need to do is import the image into CorelDRAW.

Go to File > Import and choose the image you want to import. You can also press Ctrl + I on your keyboard, or drag the picture from your computer folder into CorelDRAW.

In the Tool Options, you can adjust the nib size and color, depending on what works the best for you. Now, it's time to outline your photo. Click and drag over the edges of the photo details that you wish to keep.

As you can see from the picture above, the selection doesn't need to be perfect.

Once you've made your selection, click on the Inside Fill Tool (F), and fill in the selection you wish to keep.

Step 3: The Finishing Touches

Click on Preview. This allows you to see what your picture looks like without the background and it also allows you to edit some details. In case there are some details that you don't like, you can fix them with the Add Detail Tool (A) and the Remove Detail Tool (R).

Step 4: Save Your Image

Once you're happy with the results, click OK at the right bottom of the screen, then go to File > Save As. This will open a new window where you can rename the image and choose where to save it.

Before saving the image, make sure to choose PNG from the drop menu, as this image format allows for transparent backgrounds. After that, hit Save.
