Galaxy Tab S8 Nears Launch With 45W Fast Charging Support

Samsung is readying three new flagship Android tablets to launch in the coming months — Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The former has just appeared on the official FCC website, suggesting an imminent launch. The certification listing also confirms a few key specs of the upcoming tablet.

A couple of unannounced Samsung tablets bearing the model numbers SM-X700 and SM-X706B have recently passed through FCC’s certification process. These should be the Wi-Fi-only and cellular variants of the Galaxy Tab S8, respectively. The accompanying documentation also suggests so. There’s no mention of cellular bands for the SM-X700, while the SM-X706B has been tested for both LTE and Sub6 5G cellular connectivity, as well as 2G and 3G.

The FCC listings confirm S Pen support for the Galaxy Tab S8. The stylus pen will magnetically attach to the back of the tablet, something we knew all along. The device will support 45W fast wired charging but don’t expect an adapter that can supply as much power in the retail box. At best, Samsung will likely include a 25W charger. Or maybe none at all, we shall see.

Galaxy Tab S8 appears on FCC ahead of the long-awaited launch

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7 series arrived back in August 2020. So the company is already due to launch a successor to its flagship Android tablet offering. While we long know that the Galaxy Tab S8 series is in the making, we don’t have their official launch date yet. But this appearance on the FCC’s website is an indication that we are getting closer to it.

Meanwhile, leaks in the past have revealed a great deal about Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablets. The three models will come in three different sizes. The vanilla Galaxy tab S8 will sport an 11-inch display, while the Tab S8+ will have a 12.4-inch screen. The Galaxy tab S8 Ultra, meanwhile, will feature a massive 14.6-inch panel.

The Ultra model is also expected to bring some camera improvements to the table. Its two lower-cost siblings may not see any major upgrades from the Galaxy tab s7 series in the camera department. All three models should feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

There have been reports of a Galaxy Tab S8 Lite as well. It could be a stripped-down variant of the vanilla Tab S8. We expect to hear more about the upcoming flagship Android tablets from Samsung in the build u[p to their launch.
