The Harry Potter reunion special hit screens earlier this month and, as expected, it was the perfect nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Since the show aired, fans have been busy spotting all the tiny details you probably missed from the Return to Hogwarts reunion, including a couple of awkward mistakes. First, there was the bizarre mixup between Emma Watson and Emma Roberts, which Watson has since responded to. Following that, fans spotted a second cringeworthy error involving Fred and George actors James and Oliver Phelps, and the cast chipped in on the conversation once again.

Now, eagle-eyed viewers have been at work once more, and this time they have a theory that Ron Weasley actor Rupert Grint wasn't at the reunion in person at all. In fact, they reckon he was actually in Toronto, Canada (while the rest of the cast were in London), and they've been sharing some apparent evidence to back it up.

Back in November 2021, it was reported that Rupert Grint was filming scenes for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Netflix show Cabinet of Curiosities in Canada, with pictures of filming published by the Daily Mail.

News of the project has led fans to believe that Rupert was in fact still across the Atlantic when the Harry Potter reunion was filmed. On top of that, fans are theorising that the reference to a Toronto filming crew in the show's credits may have been down to Rupert reportedly being in Canada.

While it's plausible that Rupert could have been edited into scenes alongside co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, fans have pointed out that the theory doesn't explain one moment where Rupert and Emma are seen holding hands.

However, super observant fans reckon they've cracked the mystery - and it's all to do with Emma Watson's nail varnish.

Viewers have noticed that, in the scenes where she appears with Daniel and Rupert as a trio, Emma's nails are painted black. Meanwhile, in the scenes where she's with Rupert alone, her nails seem to be a glittery gold colour, despite the fact that she's wearing the same outfit.

So much mystery.
