Tony Danza to perform at Marion Palace Theatre

The Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA) has added more live acts to the Marion Palace Theatre’s Winter/Spring 2022 schedule of events. 

Tony Danza will be performing at the Marion Palace Theatre on April 23.

“Tony Danza: Standards & Stories” will take the Palace main stage at 7:30 p.m. on April 23. Perhaps best known for his starring roles on the TV shows “Taxi” and “Who’s The Boss,” Danza has also established himself as a song and dance man. Along with his 4-piece band, Tony performs a selection of his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook, as well as selections from the hit Broadway musical “Honeymoon in Vegas” while interweaving stories about his life and personal connection to the music.

Tickets for “Tony Danza: Standards & Stories” are $54, $47, $39, and $32. They go on sale Thursday for those with a PCAA Marquee Membership, on Monday for those with PCAA General Membership and Jan. 20 for the general public.

Also just announced is a performance by a chamber ensemble from the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra at 2:30 p.m. March 26 as part of the May Pavilion series. Tickets $15.

Big Island Township reorganizes for 2022 

Big Island Township trustees recently held their annual reorganization meeting for 2022. Officers elected include Chairman Robert Handley, Vice-Chairman Ryan Eisele, Trustee Philip Schaber, Fiscal Officer Penny Fogle, Zoning Inspector Tim Ryan and Cemetery Sexton Timothy Noggle. 

Additional re-appointments were Darrell Ford to the Zoning Appeals Board  and Ann Handley to the Zoning Commission, both for five-year terms. 

The next trustees meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Township Hall, located at the corner of Decliff-Big Island and Bumford Roads. The remainder of the year’s meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, with the exception of Feb. 8 and March 22. The last meeting of the year will be held Dec. 29. Regular meetings are open to the public. 

Notices of special announcements will be posted at Al’s Country Market or at the Township Hall and in the Marion Star. 

The township has fire contracts with Salt Rock Township and New Vision Fire and Rescue and emergency ambulance service with MedCare, New Vision Fire & Rescue and Marion Township Fire Department. 

The annual 2021 financial report has also been completed and is available for public inspection by appointment by calling 740-225-4030. 

Local resident honored for support of county fairs

Keith Seckel has been recognized by the Ohio Fair Managers Association for outstanding service to the Marion County Fair.

Seckel was among 48 individuals and organizations recently recognized during the 97th Ohio Fair Managers Association annual convention. Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) Director Dorothy Pelanda presented each winner with a certificate.
