Exynos 2200 may no longer be an option for the Samsung Galaxy S22

One of the most anticipated handsets of the year is the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. We expect it will come with a whole host of upgrades and new features, but something we are looking forward to would be the new Exynos 2200 chipset. This is because it will be the first Samsung Exynos chipset to feature the use of AMD’s graphics.

It sounds pretty exciting given that AMD’s Radeon GPUs are pretty popular amongst PC gamers, so it stands to reason that AMD’s tech could do wonders for Samsung’s phones as well. Unfortunately, that may no longer be the case.

Exynos 2200 is G.O.N.E.

According to a report from SamMobile and also posts made on Twitter, it seems that Samsung could have decided not to use the Exynos 2200 in the Galaxy S22 series. The tweet above even suggests that the chipset could have been scrapped, although that seems rather unlikely given how late we are in the game.

SamMobile’s report, however, suggests that the Exynos 2200 could still debut later this year, but that it might not be used for the Galaxy S22 series. Take all of this with a massive dose of salt since nothing has been officially confirmed (or denied) yet, but perhaps the initial benchmarks of the Exynos 2200 were a bit underwhelming where Samsung no longer felt confident about using it for its flagship phones.

Either way, with rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S22 series could be announced next month, we should have more details then.
