The already rumored upgrades to the headlights, taillights and charging port of the 2022 Tesla Model S have now apparently been confirmed by pictures of an official production unit which has been spotted in a Tesla showroom in Taiwan. However, not all of these updates are necessarily expected to make their way to the North American market.

The iconic American electric car maker Tesla starts off the year 2022 with an already rumored and much anticipated update for its electric sedan, the Tesla Model S. We previously reported on a prototype which has been spotted in the vicinity of Tesla's manufacturing site in Fremont, California, and has given us a few hints at the expected upgrades coming to the flagship product. The subtle but pronounced changes that could already be seen in these pictures of the aforementioned Model S prototype have now apparently been confirmed.

In a Tesla fan group on Facebook, a member named "Caster" has now shared pictures which show the upgraded 2022 Tesla Model S with the purported new taillight and charging door design that is probably large enough to support the CCS standard which is used in many countries around the world. These images have since been deleted, but a thoughtful Twitter user has re-uploaded them. While the updated CCS charging port may not make its way to the North American market, the removed trim element above the license plate area and the new taillights could very well be implemented in North American Tesla Model S units fairly soon and results in a cleaner looking appearance.

The most significant upgrade for the all-electric sedan appears to be its adaptive headlights, which now seem to feature new lamps that support matrix LED projection. In this regard, Tesla seems to finally catch up to other luxury automakers like Audi, which have featured this headlight technology in some of their models. Again, these updates and features are expected to be rolled out in most international markets first, and prospective buyers in the US may have to wait a bit longer for the slightly upgraded and improved 2022 Tesla Model S.
