Governor Ralph Northam has declared a State of Emergency that he says will help ease pressure on hospitals and support health care workers.

In his press conference this afternoon, Northam said health care workers and hospitals are exhausted, and they are again facing increasing numbers of patients, which is affecting their ability to provide care.

Northam says the order will last for 30 days and if University of Virginia models hold, that should be enough to get through this latest wave.
