While the major league remains in lockout, the minor league season preparations continue. Their schedule is set to continue as planned since they are not a part of the lockout. This also remains an opportunity for the Brewers to add some players on minor league deals as they usually do, and take a look at them as possible additions to the major league team. One of those players is Tyler White, who the Brewers officially signed to a minor-league contract today. The deal was originally reported last month, but made official today.

White has spent portions of four seasons in the majors. He originally came up through Houston’s mnor league system and debuted with them in 2016. He then spent portions of the next four seasons in the majors before being traded to the Dodgers in 2019. He was released after the 2019 season and played in Korea in 2020, but was in the Blue Jays minor-league system in 2021.

In four seasons in the majors, White has posted a batting line of .236/.315/.409 with a 95 OPS+. He has 204 strikeouts compared to 87 walks in 859 plate appearances. His best season came in 2018, when he posted a .276/.354/.533 batting line with a 140 OPS+, 12 home runs, and 42 RBI. While he has experience in the majors playing at first, second, and third base, he has only played at first base the last few seasons.
