Domhnall Gleeson to play a serial killer opposite Steve Carell in FX's The Patient

Gleeson is among four cast on the half-hour 10-episode limited series from The Americans team of Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields. Linda Emond, Laura Niemi and Andrew Leeds have also joined The Patient, starring Carell as Alexander Strauss, "a psychotherapist who finds himself held prisoner by a serial killer (Gleeson) with an unusual request: curb his homicidal urges," per The Hollywood Reporter. "Unwinding the mind of this man while also dealing with the waves of his own repressed troubles creates a journey for Alexander that’s perhaps as treacherous as his captivity." Gleeson's recent TV roles include Frank of Ireland, which he co-created with his brother Brian Gleeson, Run and HBO’s Watergate limited series The White House Plumbers.
