Burrillville High School cancels midterm exams

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Burrillville High School Administration sent out a message to those in the community informing them that the school has decided to cancel their midterm exams.

The decision comes after a surge in COVID cases impacting their student body and staff. They believe that not every student has received the same fair and equal opportunity to access materials due to absences to learn from their courses.

Students will still be required to attend school during the allocated week for midterms starting January 24, but will attend their regular classes.

First semester grade will be calculated equally between first and second quarter grades.

They wrote, “Please know that this decision was not made lightly. Administrators and department leaders, with input from faculty & staff, have spent multiple hours discussing the importance of midterm exams, as well as their impact on students’ academic status and social/emotional well-being.”
