Emmerdale offers hope in Meena plot as Mandy gets suspicious

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Manpreet Sharma and Vinny Dingle are in grave danger, thanks to village serial killer Meena Jutla, but tonight there was a glimmer of hope.

Meena has been holding her own sister Manpreet hostage in a barn outside the village with plans to kill her after she found out that Meena killed Ben.

Last week, Meena also took Vinny Dingle hostage after he started getting suspicious of her threats towards Noah Dingle, and Meena then lured Vinny to the barn where Manpreet was being held before attacking him too.

Meena later revealed that she was plotting to kill Vinny by hooking him up to an IV full of alcohol and staging his death to look like he had crashed his van drunk.

In order to cover her tracks, last night Meena took Vinny's phone to send Mandy a reassuring text saying that there was no need to worry about his absence from the village.

On tonight's episode (January 11), a weakened Manpreet and Vinny were both struggling to stay alive in the barn, while back at the village Sam Dingle was questioning Mandy over the whereabouts of Vinny and his van.

But it seems that Meena hasn't quite managed to cover her tracks this time, as it wasn't long before Mandy started to get suspicious about the text she had received from Vinny the day before.

Mandy explained that Vinny hasn't followed up on the text since, which is unlike him, and added that his text message only had one kiss when he normally does three.

Could this be enough for Mandy to realise that Vinny is in trouble?

Meanwhile, back in the barn, Manpreet continued to fight the drugs in her system and finally managed to snap the cable ties on her hands. After freeing herself, Manpreet waited for Meena to return before attacking her in a bid to save herself and Vinny.

Unfortunately, Manpreet didn't have the upper hand for long and Meena managed to subdue her and restrain her again with fresh cable ties.

When Vinny later regained consciousness, he was terrified to learn that their one chance at escape had been thwarted.

Later, in the village, Meena was confronted by Liam who told her he was concerned about her behaviour, revealing that he knew about Meena's fake pregnancy and that she had lied about suffering a miscarriage.

In response, however, Meena told Liam he had gone too far this time and said she would be making an official complaint about his 'predatory' behaviour.

When Liam pleaded with her to speak to the mental health support team, Meena said she would accuse him of sexually harassing her and spiking her drink at the Christmas party.

Meena then returned to the barn and told Manpreet and Vinny that Liam had discovered her lie about being pregnant so she would be escalating her plan, telling the pair that today would be their final day alive.

Is Meena about to claim two more victims, or will someone from the village figure out the danger that Manpreet and Vinny are in before it's too late?
