Hugh Freeze is reportedly looking to the NFL ranks to fill out a role on his defensive staff at Liberty.

Liberty in December saw defensive coordinator Scott Symons named to the same position at SMU. Josh Aldridge, the Flames’ defensive line coach, and Jack Curtis, who served as safeties coach, were promoted as co-coordinators to take over for Symons.

Now, according to 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello, Jeremy Garrett, an assistant DL coach with the Cleveland Browns, is headed to Lynchburg to coach the Flames’ defensive line:

Garrett has spent the last 2 seasons on Kevin Stefanski’s staff in Cleveland. Prior to his stint with the Browns, he was at Vanderbilt, where he was the defensive quality control coach for 1 season in 2019. Before that, Garrett was at the Ensworth School in Nashville for 8 years.

An Ole Miss grad, he played his final 2 seasons in Oxford under Freeze.
