It has been confirmed that Rose Ayling-Ellis is back filming on EastEnders as Frankie Lewis. How long she remains on screen is unclear, she could be leaving again due to Danny Dyer announced he is leaving his role as Mick Carter, or Frankie could stay in Albert Square with Linda, Shirley and Nancy once Mick has gone.

I think it would be a depressing sign for EE if four actresses were axed because one actor decides to leave. Frankie, Linda, Shirley and Nancy are strong enough in their own right to run the Vic and remain in the show without Mick.

i dont think there is any suggestion the show would axe them, its whether Kellie Bright, in particular, would stick around once Danny leaves

Sbe is still under contract to EE. It won't be a long one so she will have time to consider her options. Rose will do well off the back of Strictly.

I honestly do think that Shirley may be coming to the end of her natural life in the show. She neeeds Carly or Zsa Zsa to return imo unless her relationship with Rocky works.

Nancy I do feel can stand on her own and I like her with Zack. If I could only keep one current Carter I think it would be Nancy but I do think I’d keep all 4.

Frankie I like her relationship with Nancy and she’s a good friend for Ben and Callum. She has loads of potential.

Linda, I feel she NEEDs the chance to have a life after Mick. It’s like the Ronnie/Roxy situation. Roxy needed the chance for a life aftee Ronnie but sadly was killed off alongside her and ai do honestly think she’d leave alongside Danny tbh or if Mick leaves alive, she’ll leave soon after for a reunion with him as they’ll always get back together.

When it’s 2 characters literally getting stuck in a roundabout with eachother then 1 of them would need killed off.

Phil/Ben, Phil/Sharon, Ronnie/Roxy, Mick/Linda all the big offenders I can think off and with those Phil and Ronnie I’d kill off (Phil mostly because its 2 relationships he’s stuck in some roundabout). Mick and Linda are a harder one but whichever left first, they need killing off. It’s whats best for whichever character stays. Mick being killed off would be the best way for this door to be shut and Linda to move on.

She will bring huge ratings to the show. She's become really popular since winning Strictly.

People I know who don't watch Eastenders are going to tune in when she returns.

i mean, she almost certainly wont, I love Rose and really like Frankie, but she's not going to improve ratings

She’ll be going off again soon for the Strictly tour, right? I wonder how they’ll explain her going off-screen again for a couple of months!

    I agree.

The cast isn't strong enough for them to be able to afford losing the whole family off the back of this news.

I'm in two minds about Linda, it's going to be strange to see her on the show without Mick, but there's ways of writing him out (going to prison or disappearing due to a breakdown) to where that needn't be too big of an issue. Either of those scenarios would see them still together but not.

Mind, they are not even together at the moment, and they may just decide to keep it that way. The marital drama thrown their way in the last few years hasn't been faithful to their original characterisations but it's done now.

I would hate to see them kill off another big character for little pay off. I think they have - like Hollyoaks - killed off too many in recent years to where viewers are now desensitized to it.

Soaps do have a history of major family members leaving, with odd relatives or children just being randomly ( & often unrealistically) assigned to other households-examples too numerous to mention, particularly in Aussie soaps. But it can very often be the thin end of the wedge as a particular family slowly vanishes from our screens, eg Iqra was the last vestige of the Massods, who held on gamely for over 14 years.

When Mick leaves, I think the Vic needs new owners. I love the Carters but I do think they worked really well outside of the Vic when Sharon and Ian took over in 2020-2021.

However, it needs to be someone ‘new’ aka someone who hasn’t managed the Vic before. I don’t want Sharon, Kat, Alfie, Phil etc back in the Vic.

Janine (and returning Butchers) or a new family taking over the Vic would be fantastic, in my opinion.

Well Maisie hasn't come up trumps with her fortune seeking! I think a number of these actors/actresses dismiss the real difficulties of a jobbing actor. If you are going to leave the show then at least get a decent job lined up first. otherwise you may just disappear into the realms of background actors.

I agree except with how hated Janine is, I don’t see the Vic being a popular place if she was landlady. Fine if she works there but I do feel the landlord/landlady needs to be people the community likes for the Vic to be successful.

New bloody for sure but If I was forced to I’d says Nancy, Zack, Frankie, Martin, Shirley unit and Linda not living there to reduce temptation. And only until while set up for a new family unit plan

I'm surprised. I assumed her Strictly break would cover the live tour as well since it was announced she was doing it.

At least we'll get Frankie back onscreen sooner though, I genuinely thought we weren't going to see her again until Easter-ish.

Linda I think would need to stay out of the Vic. The rest can but I think its best for Linda if they keep her out of there. The Carters got the Vic Back because they realises Mick doesn’t work without it whereas Linda was doing fine without it and none of the current cast suit it.

i dont think thats strictly true, the plan always seemed to be for the carters to get the Vic back, it was only ever a plot device to isolate Sharon and Ian for her revenge
