'Studio 666': Dave Grohl & The Foo Fighters Star In A New Rock Horror Comedy

From the beginning, if Nirvana and Kurt Cobain were known for being grumpy and sullen, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters seemed to have a more optimistic tone. From music videos like Michel Gondry‘s wacky “Everlong” video and their Mentos-friendly video for “Big Me,” perhaps due to the tragedy that the band was born from, Grohl was definitely presenting a different mood and tone and one that featured a lot of comedy.

His comedic knack, featured in a lot of those early music videos, seems to be on display in “Studio 666,” a new horror-comedy starring Grohl and the Foo Fighters band playing themselves, in search of a killer new studio for their 10th record; they want to do something special. Of course, when they book a stay at Studio 666, things get a little crazy.

In STUDIO 666, the legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.

“STUDIO 666” is directed by BJ McDonnell and stars Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, Whitney Cummings, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, Leslie Grossman and Jeff Garlin. Based upon a story by Dave Grohl with a screenplay by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes, the film is produced by John Ramsay and James A. Rota, and executive produced by John Cutcliffe, Dave Grohl, Wes Hagan, Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffee, James Masciello, Nate Mendel, Tom Ortenberg, Chris Shiflett, Matthew Sidari, John Silva, Gaby Skolnek, Pat Smear, Kristen Welsh and Mitchell Zhang.

Open Road Films will release “Studio 666” in theaters nationwide on February 25, 2022. Watch the trailer below.
