Vincent Irizarry Reunites With Y&R Co-Star Eric Braeden!

Tags:

It was an unexpected reunion of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS rivals when Vincent Irizarry ran into former co-star Eric Braeden (Victor) recently! “It was brought to my attention that yesterday was the anniversary of my first air show on Y&R back in 2007 as the deadly gambling addict and swindling husband to Nikki, David Chow,” Irizarry shared on Instagram with a photo of the duo. “So as fate would have it, it was the perfect time to run into my then-time castmate and on-screen adversary, Mr. Eric Braeden at a favorite Santa Monica wine and dine restaurant, Wally’s.”

Irizarry made his daytime debut back in 1983 as Lujack on GUIDING LIGHT, then went on to play Scott on SANTA BARBARA before returning to GL as Nick. From 1997-2006, he played David on ALL MY CHILDREN before joining the cast of Y&R as another David. When that run came to an end in 2008, he returned to AMC until its cancelation. More recently, he played Deimos on DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

Both Irizarry and Braeden have had extensive careers in film and television, so it should come as no surprise that Y&R was not the first time they worked together. “FYI, Y&R was the second time Eric and I played opposite each other,” Irizarry revealed. “The first being in 1990 in Jackie Collins’ Lucky/Chances.” That 1990 TV miniseries starred Irizarry as Gino Santangelo and Braeden as Dimitri Stanislopolous.

“In the 32 years I’ve known the man,” Irizarry concluded, “I can confidently say that we clearly have the same dining tastes given that I’ve run into him many a time throughout all those years at several local spots. As always, great to see him.”

After seeing his former co-star’s social media post, Braeden tweeted: “Vince, my man, it was good to see you! Always have respected you as a professional!” And Irizarry responded in kind. “As have I towards you, sir!” he wrote. “Here’s hoping we get to play make-believe together again someday.”

David Chow is currently deceased, but who’s to say he doesn’t have a long-lost twin like Lujack did with Nick? Anything to get Irizarry back on our TV screens… and working with Braeden would just be icing on the cake!
