Sister Johnson Speaks At BYU Devotional

PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, Sister Camille N. Johnson, the Primary General President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encouraged BYU students and faculty to improve their relationship with Christ during the weekly BYU devotional.

Sister Johnson commenced her address by speaking of blizzard warnings in Alaska and Hawaii this past December.

She then bore her testimony that the Savior is the refuge in the storms in our lives.

She also suggested reducing our personal windage is a way to combat these storms as they come.

In so doing, she recommended that her listeners do the following:

stop worrying about the future and let God prevail

repent daily

refrain from procrastination

keep the right company

cease looking for validation/affirmation from the wrong sources

refrain from distraction

use time wisely

She confirmed there is no time to be wasted and concluded her remarks by sharing an experience of her family’s time at Lake Powell on their houseboat.

A storm was ongoing and the houseboat rocked violently from side-to-side as the motorboat slammed into the houseboat.

She spoke of how her family was moored between two points as opposed to one, causing the houseboat to become windage.

She said that it’s in our best interests to be secured to Christ as she concluded.

This was Sister Johnson’s first BYU devotional address in her present calling.
