Searle Dams Will Be One Of The Top Issues Facing Ag Community Into 2022

When it comes to legislative issues, what will be on the farming community’s radar both in the state capital and in Washington D.C.? Bryan Searle, President of the Idaho Farm Burau Federation said many of the issues he’ll watch in 2022 are consistent year after year, such as water rights and burdensome regulation. But he noted with renewed talk about removing the lower Snake River dams, that will be a topic of renewed importance.

“Farmers are definitely concerned and involved in those discussions, to help people understand the value of dams and the purpose of dams, the transportation of crops, that is critical to agriculture.  So, a lot of discussion is being had there right now.”

Searle added after the extremely dry conditions of 2021, water availability and snowpack will also be top issues on the minds of Idaho farmers in the year to come.
