A Greeneville father whose 3-year-old son was killed and 3-year-old daughter was severely burned in a fire must serve 2 years in prison.
Robert Inbody pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of attempted child abuse and neglect, according to the Greene County Circuit Court clerk's office. Inbody was previously charged with two counts of aggravated child neglect.
Inbody was sentenced to 10 years to serve consecutively on each count, but following the two years of prison time, Inbody will be on probation for the rest of the sentence.
Fire crews responded to a camper fire on Woolsey Road on in May 2020. Firefighters found the 3-year-old girl with severe burns outside the camper. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. The 3-year-old boy was found dead inside the camper.
Authorities said the investigation revealed that the children were left unattended by Inbody at the time the fire occurred.
Authorities added Inbody left the scene in an attempt to avoid speaking with authorities concerning the incident.
The mother of the children, Devin Cullum, was charged with accessory after the fact to aggravated child neglect. The charge against her has been dropped.
