Irish National Opera Cancels Performances of ‘Bajazet’ Due to COVID-19

The Irish National Opera has canceled some of its scheduled performances of Vivaldi’s “Bajazet” due to COVID-19.

The company noted that “due to Covid-19 restrictions on theater openings, we have had to cancel the performances of ‘Bajazet’ in Letterkenny (18 Jan), Sligo (20 Jan), and Kilkenny (27 Jan). The opening night performance on 15 Jan at the Solstice Arts Centre has been moved to 16 Jan at 5pm. Venues will be in touch with ticket holders with further information.”

However, concert performances of the work will take place in Cork on Jan. 20 and in Maynooth on Jan. 27. There will also be performances in Navan, Limerick, Galway, and Dún Laoghaire.

The production by Adele Thomas is a co-production by the Royal Opera House and is set to star James Laing, Gianluca Margheri, Niamh O’Sullivan, Eric Jurenas, Claire Booth, and Aoife Miskelly. Peter Whelan ois set to conduct.

Thursday 20 January St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Cork concert performance.

Saturday 22 January Lime Tree Theatre Limerick

Tuesday 25 January Town Hall Theatre Galway

Thursday 27 January Aula Maxima Maynooth University concert performance.

Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 January Pavilion Theatre Dún Laoghaire. (SOLD OUT)
