343 Industries has offered up an update to Halo Infinite multiplayer fans on a long-awaited fix for matchmaking issues on Big Team Battle mode games.

As a broad overview, players have found themselves unable to group in large parties and successfully get into a Big Team Battle mode game. The problem apparently also gets worse as more people join, leaving larger Fireteams stuck on the loading screen and unable to get into a game together. The team at 343 Industries had hoped to get a fix for the issue out before the holidays, but were unsuccessful in solving the problem.

However, a new optimistic update posted to the official Halo Waypoint forums last night offers some hope. “A strike force continued to work on this over the break and we’re optimistic to say we believe we have a fix in hand for the core issue. This went into QA last week and so far it’s looking positive – we are not seeing this issue occur internally using this build.”

The team say they will continue testing the fix before moving into certification and release. While they can’t give an ETA just yet, the team hopes Halo Infinite players won’t be waiting too much longer. However, it won’t be ready this week at least, as they have to ensure the fix “doesn’t have any other unintended impact to the retail product.”

Further out, 343 Industries say they’re also looking to address issues of cheaters and cheating in the game. A patch has been pencilled in for mid-February that the team hopes will help that, along with some other issues. Halo Infinite multiplayer and campaign are both available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. You can check out our review here.
