HBO‘s controversial teen drama Euphoria has become known for its provocative nature and glitter-soaked, hard-partying teens since it premiered in 2019. But when it comes to the show’s trademark aesthetic, its hazy Southern California setting is honestly underrated. Now that it’s finally back, it’s worth taking a look at where the wild events of Euphoria were actually filmed.
The series stars Zendaya as Rue Bennett, a teenager grappling with substance abuse issues as she and her classmates navigate growing up in an uncertain world of sex, drugs, and (gasp!) social media. While Rue merely tells audiences that she had “a middle-class childhood in an American suburb,” one look at the show makes it pretty clear these teens are running around Los Angeles.
So, can you visit some of Euphoria‘s most iconic locations for yourself? And what should fans know about where Season 2 was filmed? Here’s everything you need to know:
WHERE WAS EUPHORIA SEASON 2 FILMED?
Euphoria Season 2 was primarily filmed in and around Los Angeles County. Once again, Ulysses S. Grant High school stands in for the fictional East Highland High School, while many of the indoor scenes were shot on sound stages at Sony Pictures Studios.
Other notable filming locations include Favorite Liquor in Burbank, Odd Ball Cabaret in North Hills, Bowlium Lanes in Montclair, and Frank’s Coffee Shop in Burbank (aka the diner where Rue and her sponsor Ali met up during the 2020 Euphoria special “Trouble Don’t Last Always”).
WHERE WAS EUPHORIA SEASON 1 FILMED?
If you’d rather visit some classic Euphoria filming spots while you wait for the rest of Season 2 to unfold, we’ve got you covered. Jules’ intense motel room scene with Nate’s dad Cal took place at North Hills’ Travel Inn. Meanwhile, a dairy store on 9201 E Tunas Drive in Temple City stood in for Fezco and Ashtray’s drug-dealing business, and Torrance’s Del Amo Fashion Center stood in as the mall where Nate stalked Tyler in Episode 2.
Other notable filming locations for Season 1 include La Tijera Boulevard (where Rue meets Ali for dinner in Episode 4), Glendale’s Moonlight Rollerway (where Rue, Lexi, and Jules go rollerskating during the same episode), and the Los Angeles Union Station (where Rue and Jules have their big train breakup in the Season 1 finale).
It’s nearly impossible to predict what those wild Euphoria kids will get up to next. But in the meantime, rest assured knowing that you can check out plenty of their favorite haunts for yourself.
