Sources familiar with the matter have told XDA Developers that the Moto Razr 3 will run a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Other specs include a UWB (ultra-wideband) chip, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage and a 120Hz OLED screen.

Motorola seems to be hell-bent on keeping the Moto Razr line of foldables alive despite the market's lukewarm reception. The company's head honcho teased that a third-generation Moto Razr was in the pipeline not too long ago, and we now have a better idea about its innards, thanks to XDA Developers.

It seems that the Moto Razr 3 will run Qualcomm's shiny new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Like its predecessor, it will feature a secondary display at the back. The exact specs of its primary screen are unknown at this point, but we can expect to see a 120Hz OLED panel at the very least. It is also said to pack a UWB (ultra-wideband) chip for more accurate object tracking. Motorola could also tear a page out of Samsung/Apple's book and launch an object tracker to work fully take advantage of the Razr 3's UWB tech.

Unfortunately, this is all we know about the Moto Razr 3 at the moment. It'll be interesting to see what cameras Motorola will use on the foldable now that it has a better chipset powering it. One can only hope that Motorola follows the competition's footsteps and throws in two rear camera sensors. An upgrade to the Moto Razr 5G's paltry 2,510mAh battery would be nice, too.

It's hard to tell when Motorola plans to unveil the Moto Razr 3, but a Q2/Q3 2022 launch seems likely. The company could even try and steal the Galaxy Z Flip 4's thunder with a strategically placed launch event. Unlike its predecessors, the Razr 3 is shaping up to be a serious contender capable of putting Motorola on the foldable map.
