The S Pen on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be insanely fast

If there is a reason why many hail the Apple Pencil for the iPad Pro as being one of the best styluses out there, it is because the latency of the Apple Pencil is so low that when using it on the iPad it feels almost like you’re writing in real-time. This is versus third-party styluses where the lag is perceivable.

That being said, it looks like Samsung could be looking to challenge the Apple Pencil because according to the latest reports, the S Pen on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have its latency reduced by as much as three times from before. This means that it will have an input delay of around 2.8 milliseconds, compared to the 9ms on the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra series.

This is according to a video from YouTube channel XEETECHCARE who shared details on the upcoming phone. We’re not sure what Samsung has changed to reduce the latency so drastically, but it’s good news for those who love the S Pen.

It is widely believed that Samsung is kind of done with its Note series and that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be taking over the Note series of phones. Prior to this, Samsung released S Pen support for its non-Note devices, but it still lacked certain features like a dedicated slot for the stylus, but that could change with the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Meanwhile, we have heard reports that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to be announced this coming February, so stay tuned for more updates.
