FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE's Porsche 911 GT3 Is Carbon Fiber Mad

Friedreich Motorsports’ tuning subsidiary FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE might not be as well known as its other German counterparts, but that doesn’t mean it won’t pull out all the stops when it comes to tuning icons such as the Porsche 911 GT3. For its latest project, the branch has taken the latest-generation GT3 and has given it a considerable visual and technical overhaul, lifting from other Porsche models as well as its own know-how.
The result is a GT3 that’s been refined, fine-tuning it to become the perfect example of a road-going race car. Starting with the engine, FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE has boosted the four-liter flat-six unit from 502 HP to 541 HP, while peak torque measures in at 482 Nm, resulting in a 0-62 MPH time of 3.3 seconds — 0.1 seconds less than the stock iteration. However, it’s not just power that has been enhanced here, as FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE has used race-spec components and carbon fiber to shed plenty of weight.
For example, a race exhaust system alleviates nine kilograms, while a host of carbon fiber elements have been added all around, notably reworking the front splitter, front hood, side skirts, mirrors, rocker panels, wing, and rear diffuser. The carbon is baked in an autoclave under pressure to make it as strong as possible — just like you find on Formula 1 cars — before being finished in matte or gloss coatings. Additionally, the front section now sends cool air to the brakes, while front fins increase downforce, as does the carbon lip spoiler.
The most noticeable change is the front hood, which in many ways looks similar to the Weissach package-equipped Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Altogether, the complete bodywork fitment totals €35,000 EUR (approximately $40,000 USD), which does not include the aforementioned exhaust or the €14,500 EUR (approximately $16,400 USD) center-lock 20” rims.
