Doctor Who star Alex Kingston has teased a possible return for her character River Song, admitting she would "absolutely" come back to the show if given the chance.
The actress first appeared as the time traveller back in 2008, and became a solid fan favourite over the years before her final appearance in 2015.
However, when asked on The One Show last night (January 10) whether she would want to make a return, Kingston seemed pretty enthused by the prospect.

"Absolutely. Of course I would want to come back," she replied. "I feel like River – she started at the end, as it were, so there's only one way to go, which is forward and to continue living, to be perfectly honest."
As speculation mounts over who will be the new Doctor following the departure of Jodie Whittaker later this year, Kingston also gave her tips on what would make a good Doctor.
"First of all you have to concede that River Song knows how to fly the TARDIS better and then also you mustn't go and steal any of River's alcohol in her secret alcohol stash in the TARDIS," she joked. "And then you also have to be a red hot kisser."

Of course, the actress hasn't been fully uninvolved in the Whoniverse lately, having shot a cameo as River Song for the Doctor Who: Time Fracture immersive event last year, not to mention appearances in Big Finish audio specials in recent years.
Fingers crossed we see her pop up again in the main show.
Meanwhile, Doctor Who recently aired the first of three specials to wrap up the Whittaker era, the third of which will see the Thirteenth Doctor regenerate into the Fourteenth.
Doctor Who will air two more specials later this year on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
