Rumor: Photos of an Unannounced Armored Core Title Have Surfaced in a From Software Survey

For those who have been waiting for From Software’s long dormant franchise to return, then hold onto something. A consumer survey that was leaked onto Resetera shows that From Software is potentially making a brand new entry to Armored Core, as the survey goes into detail about the game’s new setting and story. According to the post, the plot will pertain around a new material called “melange” and it could possibly “dramatically advance human society.”

The survey and the post also have some images from the rumored title, all of which are small and watermarked with branding, making them very hard to see. It goes on to say that the new title is a “third-person shooter mecha action title that lets you move around an overwhelmingly scaled map that represents a unique sci-fi world with dynamic mech action.” The images themselves show destroyed cities, wastelands, and other looking bleak environments. It also says that the new title will have a “high level of customization” letting players build their own mechs to their own liking, similarly to previous Armored Core titles.

Lastly, the post shows that studio director Hidetaka Miyazaki is also involved with this project, which makes sense as he originally worked on the later titles for the company when he joined them in 2004. Yes, believe it or not, Miyazaki did not just work on Soulsborne titles, as he had a different franchise he worked with well beforehand. In fact, From Software was most known for just the Armored Core franchise, which was established way back in 1997 for the original PlayStation, and spawned an entire series before going semi-dormant due to the fast popularity of their new IP Demon Souls and then later the extremely popular Dark Souls.

Should this survey prove to be true, it would be the first major Armored Core title to release since Armored Core: Verdict Day which launched in 2013. By that time, Miyazaki was no longer working on Armored Core and was firmly entrenched in the SoulsBorne media franchise. Speaking of which, the next major entry, Elden Ring, is due to release just next month on February 25 and is arguably the most anticipated title of 2022. As for this rumored Armored Core title, we’re crossing our fingers that this comes to pass, and hoping that From Software will make an official announcement in the foreseeable future.
