Alabama football wide receiver Jameson Williams suffered a left leg injury Monday against the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2022 College Football Playoff national championship game. It led to Williams coming out of the game with 12:28 left in the second quarter.

Williams was injured after making a 40-yard reception on a pass from quarterback Bryce Young. Williams' reception gave Alabama a first down at the Georgia 44-yard line.

Georgia defensive back Derion Kendrick touched Williams so that he was down on the play, but Williams had crumpled to the ground grasping at his left knee.

"His knee just gave out," Eli Gold said on the Alabama radio broadcast at the time of the injury. "We saw it go very, very awkwardly."

Williams did not return in the first half.

Alabama and Georgia were tied 3-3 at the time Williams came out of the game. Williams had four receptions for 65 yards before his injury.

ESPN's Holly Rowe reported early in the second half that Williams had suffered a knee injury and would not return during the national championship game.

Georgia defeated Alabama 33-18.
