The 36th Golden Disc Awards was held on January 8, 2022, at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Hosted by Lee Seung Gi, Lee Da Hee, and Sung Si Kyung, the awards show was held with no physical audiences and, instead, was streamed online on several platforms.

Among the many amazing artists, aespa wins as many as four trophies at the 36th Golden Disc Awards. This includes Artist of the Year, Digital Song Division Bonsang, Cosmopolitan Artist Award, and Rookie of the Year.

Backstage, the members expressed their gratitude and message, which they could not say during their speech onstage.

Karina says she is grateful that the group received many awards despite it being their first time attending the Golden Disc Awards. “I will repay you with lots of good songs and performances in the future.”

On the other hand, Giselle presented her determination to always work hard and keep up with what she lacks.

Ningning expressed her happiness attending the prestigious awards show and is very honored to receive four awards. “I will work harder in the future, and although it’s a bit sad that Winter is not here with us to accept the awards, we will all come together in good health this year.”

Winter wasn’t able to be with the other members of aespa due to health reasons. But she was in the pre-recorded performances of "Black Mamba," "Next Level," and "Savage."

Aespa Receives Rookie Of The Year Gland Slam

At the 36th Golden Disc Awards, aespa is the only group nominated in all the categories. It is a huge accomplishment for a rookie group to be nominated in all the categories, let alone receive a rookie of the year gland slam.

Now that the 36th Golden Disc Awards ended with aespa also receiving the Rookie of the Year award, the girl group now makes a grand slam as they clinched all the rookie of the year trophies from all major award-giving bodies.

It was also needed to say how aespa created a huge buzz in 2021 with their consecutive hit songs from the debut track “Black Mamba” to “Next Level” and the latest release, “Savage.”

According to Karina, every memory with fans in 2021 was precious. “Aespa received so much love in 2021, and it will remain an unforgettable time for us as we venture towards our future activities.”

Aespa also showed their desire to have an offline concert and a face-to-face fan signing event as soon as the situation gets better.

“I’ve never had a face-to-face fan signing event yet, so when the situation gets better, I want to meet our fans in person and say everything I want to say,” Ningning said.

Aespa Hints On A New Song Coming Soon

Karina says during the backstage interview at the 36th Golden Disc Awards that they hope to have more opportunities to meet fans as soon as the situation improves and gets better. She also hinted that the group would meet the fans as soon as possible and hoped they would patiently look forward to it.

Aespa concludes the backstage interview hoping that everyone will have a warm and healthy new year. Karina says, “There were many difficulties we had to experience last year. So I hope this year will be filled with good things; however, it’s not that easy. Let’s support and cheer for each other and let’s have a healthy and happy new year.”

Meanwhile, Karina and Winter recently made an amazing performance with SM Entertainment’s newest super girl group, GOT the beat.

The two aespa members joined BoA, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Hyoyeon, and Red Velvet’s Wendy and Seulgi through a stage video performance of the single “Step Back,” which was released on January 1, 2022.
