BTS, TWICE, EXO Baekhyun, SNSD Taeyeon are the Best-Selling Artists Over the Past 10 Years, Prove 'Album King & Queen' Status

The top artist of Gaon Chart's 10-year cumulative album sales was released! Among male and female groups, BTS and TWICE ranked No. 1 on respective categories, while EXO Baekhyun and SNSD Taeyeon dominated the solo male and female categories, in order.

On January 10, Gaon Chart tracked its shipment sales over the past 10 years (January 2011 to November 2021) and released its cumulative album data for best-selling artists (based on singers who debuted in 2011).

Global groups BTS and TWICE have been counted as male and female artists with the highest album sales volume over the past decade.

In particular, BTS sold a total of 32,783,223 albums the highest not only among boy groups but among all groups in history. Due to this, the "biggest boy group in the world," also sits as the "Best-Selling K-pop Artist."

Meanwhile, TWICE reigned as the "Album Queen" after they sold a total of 7,299,094 albums, and won the most album sales among female artists. On top of that, the new-gen "Nation's Girl Group" also became the only girl group to enter the Top 10 in the overall rankings, which also showed their power as "King of Girl Groups."

Meanwhile, the solo category was swept by two of this generation's prominent artists, who are both from SM Entertainment.

As for the male solo artist, "One Top Artist" and EXO member Baekhyun became the best-selling artist with 2,657,711 cumulative sold albums over the past 10 years.

Among female solo artists, Taeyeon of Girls' Generation (SNSD) recorded the highest sales volume with 1,051,567.

SHINee Taemin, another SM artist, also entered the rankings in No. 4 with 1,005,665, joining the "Million-Seller" artists list.

Meanwhile, there were a total of 10 teams (3 soloists, 7 group teams) with accumulated sales exceeding 1 million copies, a total of 7 teams (1 soloist, 6 group teams) with over 2 million sales, a total of 3 teams with more than 3 million copies, 2 teams with more than 4 million copies, and 3 teams with more than 10 million copies.
