Arguably the biggest surprise Monday morning following the conclusion of the 2021 NFL season? The Miami Dolphins firing Head Coach Brian Flores following the team’s 33-24 victory over the New England Patriots Sunday.
The Dolphins missed the postseason for the third straight year under Flores but the team finished above .500 for the 2nd consecutive season and posted a winning record vs the AFC East.
Adam Beasley, NFL Insider for Pro Football Network, explained to Hoch and Crowder why Flores losing his job stems “beyond X’s and O’s and wins & losses” and has to do more with the “culture Stephen Ross wanted” when he promoted General Manager Chris Grier in 2019.
“In his view (Stephen Ross) the dysfunction remained. There was infighting between Grier and Flores. There was infighting between Flores and his coaching staff. There was the way Flores comported himself around his players.” The constant in all of that, says Adam Beasley, “Brian Flores’ people skills.”
